Scott-Preusse Inc. has been part of the Redwood Falls community since 1955; however, the story starts earlier. R. Scott Preusse, the current owner, is a third generation owner of the dealership. Scott's maternal grandparents, Jim and Frances Scott, had moved from Canada to Detroit. At the time of their move, the industrial revolution was in full swing as the automotive industry took off. Eventually, Jim and Frances moved to Omaha, NE where Jim owned a Nash and Rambler dealership.

In the 1940's, Bill Preusse began his studies at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. It was there where Bill met Jane Scott, the only child of Jim and Frances Scott. They were later married. In 1950, Bill partnered up with his father-in-law and became co-owner of the dealership. In 1955, the partners had a choice to make - to purchase a dealership in Redwood Falls or in Minneapolis. The choice for Redwood Falls was an obvious selection. The smaller-sized community was where the partners saw their future in the automotive market and most importantly, it was a great community to raise a family.

In 1955, the dealership was located downtown at the old NAPA building. For those of you familiar with Redwood Falls, this is the building west of the Lutheran Synod office. In 1967, a new building was constructed on the east edge of Redwood Falls and that's were you can still find us today.
