Model Changes
The Chevy Avalanche, completely redesigned for 2007, is based on GM's new, full-size SUV platform. It features more power and fuel economy, a leaner and more agile looking design, a refined interior, and more safety equipment.
All 2007 Avalanche engines offer Active Fuel Management and variable valve timing, and the ability to run on E85, a renewable fuel consisting of 15% gasoline and 85% ethanol.
Inside, by lowering the instrument panel and deepening the windshield, the Avalanche's interior is roomier, airier, and more comfortable. In addition, the redesigned Avalanche has more substantial seats with easier entry.
Avalanche can be configured with a full safety system of occupant protection and crash-avoidance technology including available head curtain side air bags and standard StabiliTrak stability control system with rollover mitigation technology.
Warranty coverage is increased for 2007, with a new five-year or 100,000-mile powertrain warranty that's fully transferable and includes roadside assistance for the full period.
The + ton Avalanche and 8.1L V8 engine were discontinued for the 2007 model year.
Model Overview
The redesigned 2007 Chevy Avalanche is built on GM's new full-size SUV platform, which features a new, fully boxed frame, rack-and-pinion steering, coil-over-shock front suspension, and wider front and rear tracks. An enhanced interior increases the vehicle's comfort. Improved aerodynamics add to the Avalanche's improved efficiency, and make for a quieter ride compared to 2006.
The Avalanche is still offered with two- and four-wheel drive, though it is now only available as a + ton. The LT and LS trims are still the entry points for the vehicle, while the LTZ trim is the new uplevel dTcor for 2007.
An iron-block 5.3L V8 with 320 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque is standard on two-wheel-drive Avalanches. The 5.3L aluminum-block engine standard on the four-wheel-drive Avalanche provides an estimated 310 horsepower and 335 lb-ft of torque. Also available on the 2WD and 4WD models is an all-aluminum 6.0L V8 that produces 366 horsepower. Active Fuel Management and variable valve timing are featured on all 2007 Avalanche engines, and the 5.3L V8s are all flex fuel compatible.
Signature features like the Avalanche's midgate system, which allows for flexible hauling capabilities, and bed-mounted storage compartments with drain plugs remain for 2007.
New comfort features include an upgraded heating and air conditioning system, an available touch-screen navigation system, a remote vehicle starter prep package, a rearview camera system, and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system with an eight-inch screen. Firmer foams and more aggressive bolsters have improved the Avalanche's front seats, while the Avalanche's unique rear seat still allows for easy access to the midgate system.
Standard safety features include stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and OnStar. New safety attributes for the Avalanche include available roof-mounted side curtain air bags with rollover protection for front and rear seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers with heated washers.
The Chevy Avalanche's unique midgate system gives it a distinctive look and allows it to function as both a truck and an SUV. The midgate opens to increase cargo-carrying potential from 5.3 feet to 8.2 feet with the rear seat is folded. With the midgate closed, the Avalanche can seat up to six passengers.
To cater to a wide range of uses and customers the fully functional and comfortable Avalanche has very competitive pricing with the 2WD LS style starting at $32,335 and the 4WD LS style starting at $35,335.
Avalanche complements its flexibility with up to 8,000 pounds of towing capacity, four-wheel-drive and off-road ability, and competitive pricing starting at $32,460, which means there's something to appeal to almost any buyer.
